The 100th day of school has been a long-standing celebration at Shongum. This year, Shongum is partnering with Connect For Community, which is a program started by a small group of volunteers to help supplement donations to local food pantries. We would like to use the 100th day of school to show the students what 100 cents can buy. Each student is asked to bring in one item of something that is used everyday, with a cost of $1.00 or less. We hope the students will enjoy watching the pile of donated items grow. On February 12th, the 100th day of school, all of the collected items will be donated. For more information on items suggested for students by grade level, please click on the attached memo from Miss Mueller. Connect for Community Memo. Back by popular demand!!! Shongum School will once again be hosting the second annual Scholastic Olympics. The olympics will be held February 23rd through the 27th. Students in grades 1 through 5 will compete class versus class in the areas of intellect, problem solving, and collaboration. Our goal is for the students to gain knowledge and have fun at the same time through teamwork and good sportsmanship! Team-specific t-shirts will once again be purchased for each class. If you are able to, please consider a donation in any amount to go towards the purchase of the t-shirts. For more information, please contact Ilana Klochkov at email@example.com or (201) 788-1834, or click on the attached flyer. Good luck to all the students! 2015 Scholastic Olympics

The deadline for purchasing Holiday Gift Certificates is fast approaching. Please consider purchasing Holiday Gift Certificates for some well deserving local charities over this holiday season. The certificate is given to a staff member and the money to charity. This year the staff has chosen the following three charities:
Randolph Families in Need
The Nicholas Meola Fund
Jersey Battered Women’s Service
If your child wishes to give to any staff member, we encourage you to consider the certificate option. In this way, the joy of gift giving is preserved and the money goes to a worthwhile cause. We hope this option makes the spirit of holiday giving even more meaningful. The deadline for submitting order forms is Thursday, December 18th.
The letter and order form are attached here. Any questions, please contact Julie Hamilton at (973) 933-2122 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
