Shongum celebrates Earth Week 2015

Earth Day is April 22nd, and in honor of our beautiful planet, Shongum School will be celebrating Earth Week April 20-24th. It will be a week of fun activities, and will end in true Shongum fashion with “Go Green” day on Friday the 24th, when students are encouraged to wear green and show their school spirit! 5th Grade Variety Show

5th Grade parents – mark your calendars now for a fun night out with the best talent in town! The 5th Grade Variety show will take place on Friday, April 24th. The theme for this year’s variety show is The “S” Factor! The students have been working hard and are awaiting show day! Please note beginning tomorrow, April 13th, all participants in the show (performers, stage crew, judges, emcees, etc)  are urged to attend the remaining practices. We look forward to working with you on making this show a night to remember and a huge success. If you haven’t already done so, please hand in your booster forms! Don’t miss the opportunity to congratulate your child on a job well done!

Shongum K-kids/GOTR Bake Sale

Shongum K-kids club and Girls on the Run are joining together to work on the project “Pennies for Patients”. This organizations helps children and their families that are battling Leukemia and Lymphoma blood diseases. K-kids and GOTR are organizing a bake sale to take place during the days of the conferences this week. Shongum Food Drive 2015

Shongum School will once again be holding it’s annual food drive benefitting the Randolph Food Pantry. Beginning Monday, March 16th, boxes will be set up in the lobby of Shongum to collected donated items. Requested items for this month include cereal, oatmeal, soups, paper products, canned meats, canned fruits, peanut butter and jelly, coffee, tea, and powdered milk. Oliver! The Musical at RMS

Looking for something fun to do with the family? You don’t have to look any further than your own town of Randolph! Grab the family and come out to see Oliver! the musical at the Randolph Middle School starring Randolph’s finest middle school actors and actresses! This fabulous production will be held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 19th – 21st. Showtimes are Thursday and Friday nights at 7:00 p.m., Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., and Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now. Shongum Birthday Book Club

Once again, the Shongum PTO is proud to present the Birthday Book Club. For $10.00, you can dedicate a new book to your child or class or any special person. Your child will be the first to borrow the book. After he or she reads it, the book will become part of the Shongum Library Collection. Girls On the Run – Spring 2015

Shongum is excited to announce that Girls On The Run will run again for Spring 2015!  Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization which inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. It follows a curriculum based on fun, team spirit, connecting with one another, and creatively integrates running. It is the goal of this confidence-building program to help each and every girl realize she CAN – CAN embrace who she is, CAN activate her limitless potential,  and CAN rise to any challenge! The program concludes with the girls being physically and emotionally ready to complete a celebratory 5K run. Registration for this amazing program is now open for girls in 3rd through 5th grade. The program will run from late March until early June. Meeting times will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Please click on the attached flyer for more information about Girls On The Run at Shongum. Read Across America Week 2015

Get ready for a week of reading and fun! Shongum School will be celebrating Read Across America Week beginning Monday, March 2nd and continuing all week until Friday, March 6th. We will be highlighting the achievements of our young readers with fun activities and events throughout the week. The week will kick off tomorrow with “Wear red, white, and black”, inspired by The Cat in the Hat.
